Temperature-Controlled, Secure Transportation
From perishable food to chocolate candies to glass jars of juice and more, reefer vans are a temperature-controlled shipping option that protect your products throughout transit.
Reefer trucks can transport between 42,500 and 44,000 pounds of product and have a standard storage space of 8 feet wide by 8 feet high. A high-quality refrigeration truck should include:
- Insulated trailer walls
- Heavy-duty door seals
- Reflective roof material to decrease heat absorption
In addition to keeping perishable/sensitive shipments cold and chocolate from melting in summer, reefer vans also help ensure that certain products like glass jars of jelly do not freeze in winter.
A Reefer Carrier Partner You Can Count On
LiVe’s full truckload (FTL) reefer freight services include brokerage and warehousing for temperature-sensitive cargo across North America, including an almost unlimited fleet of refrigerated trucks for fast, temperature-controlled deliveries.
Shipments can also include temperature sensors so we immediately know if a door is open or if the temperature gets too warm, so these problems can be solved before your products are damaged.
Van or Reefer Option
Taking advantage of empty reefer backhaul capacity when it’s available is one of the many ways LiVe Logistics reduces your freight total cost of ownership (TCO).
Dry vans (box/semi-trailers) normally transport non-refrigerated or “dry” shipments. However, if an empty reefer is available for a non-refrigerated shipment and the product aligns, they may offer a more competitive rate than a dry van if the alternative is to return empty – and unpaid. They just turn off the refrigerated unit, load up the reefer with dry shipments and truck it to the destination.
Carriers often book loads assuming there is no paid backhaul so, if the “van or reefer” (VR) option is available, you could pay less than you would for a traditional dry van shipment.
